It was an unexpected phone call. Tom was sitting on the sofa at home with the family dogs, Haley and LP, napping next to him. He immediately recognized the voice on the phone.
"Tom McKinney, this is Don van der Vaart."
He explained that he was sitting in his office in Raleigh with Tony Pendola, the agency engineer who worked with small businesses to help them comply with enviromental rules and requirements. And Tony had been talking about the recent events in the Fayetteville office. Don van der Vaart explained that he wanted to hire him back to work in the air permits office in Raleigh.
