It seemed to Jack and Harry that, with the possible exception of Gov. Mike Beasley, the most influential person in North Carolina state government was state senator T.E. Ham. Senator Ham was the majority leader of the North Carolina state senate and, importantly, his district included the Fayetteville area. Jack and Harry believed that he was someone that needed to be informed of the many red flags in both Fayetteville and Raleigh.
However, Jack was having trouble getting any kind of response from Senator Ham's office. The senator had two offices that could be contacted, one located in Fayetteville, the other located in Raleigh. Jack left messages at both offices, but there was no response. After several days, Jack again left messages at both offices.
